Viña Errázuriz Tasting Notes
A pale greenish-yellow colour. This is a very lush wine, intensely aromatic with abundant tropical fruit such as guava and passion fruit, perfectly balanced with the mineral notes and herbal tones so typical of top-end Sauvignon Blanc. The palate offers volume and silkiness at the same time, with a light creaminess that enhances the herbal notes and a beautiful minerality.
The grapes for our Sauvignon Blanc Max Reserva Aconcagua Costa 2011 were sourced from the Manzanar vineyard, located just 12 km (7.5 mi) from the Pacific Ocean. This hillside estate is located 100–300 metres (328–985 feet) above sea level. It has an average heat summation of just 1,191 degree days in the growing period and an average temperature of 18.4°C (65°F) in January. These unique features are ideal for growing cold climate varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc. The drip irrigated, vertically trained vines are planted in thin loamy soil 40–80 cm deep overlaying rocky clay subsoil. 60 hectares were planted in 2005 with clones 1, 107, 376 and 242, and 20 hectares more were added in 2009.
