Wine Advocate
The opaque purple-tinged 2003 Syrah 4 Blocks (a 400-case, 100% Syrah cuvee aged in large oak pungeons) reveals a dense, sweet nose of creme de cassis and blueberries, high levels of glycerin, huge body, massive fruit, and striking purity as well as length. Consume this knock-out 2003 during its first 7-8 years of life. 92 points

Behrens & Hitchcock Tasting Notes
The beautiful, dark magenta/purple color of ?4 Blocks? is a fitting start to this wine. The nose is delicate and floral with hints of vanilla and tamarind. Raspberry and bright red fruit flavors turn into darker fruits in the mid palate, and the finish is smoky and brooding. This is a well-balanced wine with great concentration and mouthfeel. A really great food wine. From 4 different block of Alder Springs Syrah fruit, this is a showcase for Les's blending talents
