Glaetzer Tasting Notes
The rich purple colour of the 09 vintage indicates both youthful exuberance and density. A compelling nose of expresso, truffles, dark plums and blackcurrant with layers of aromatic intensity that remains fresh and lively. The palate is multi-layered, with masses of cassis and mixed spice, and a hint of chocolate. Amon-Ra 09 displays an appealing brightness and beguiling purity. This is an Amon-Ra that will be remembered for its true, elegant expression of our Ebenezer terroir.

Wine Advocate
The 2008 Amon-Ra Shiraz is muted and reticent aromatically. Firm and compact on the palate, it is not up to the level of recent vintages. Even so, it has plenty of spicy fruit, decent depth, and moderate length. It will evolve for a few years but extended cellaring will be risky. As an illustration of the challenges of the 2008 vintage in Barossa (and McLaren Vale as well), Ben Glaetzer did not produce the normally superb Anaperenna cuvee because he felt the Cabernet component was not up to par. —Jay Miller, 96 points
