A blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Malbec, this elegant wine exhibits gentle tannins, flavors of red plum fruit and aromas of chocolate, coffee and vanilla. We recommend drinking our Estate Merlot upon release though it will age well and continue to evolve for 5 - 7 years.

The Shinn 2007 Estate Merlot nicely exemplifies their approach to the Bordeaux red grapes as well as the charm (here in the ripest of imaginable vintages) that the ubiquitous Merlot grape can reveal in Long Island. Ripe cherry aromas are accented with coffee, bitter chocolate, and toasted pecan, anticipating the flavors on a silken-textured palate, and leading to an understated, soothing finish. —David Schildknecht, 88 points
