![]() Fantesca Estate & Winery Cabernet Sauvignon 2002
Fantesca Estate & Winery The entry, mid-palate, and great, long finish each in their own make an exaggerated statement. Ripe black cherry predominates the mouthful of fruit. The tannins are indeed firm but well textured. The ample acidity fulfills the balance and structure. All combined, the layers of flavor hurdle into an extremely long finish. Wine Enthusiast This new brand, from veteran winemaker Nils Venge and friends, is excellent despite the awful name. It achieves that elusive goal of joining bigtime, ripe fruit with subtlety and charm to produce a wine of complexity. The cassis, cherry and oak flavors hit strong, then settle down and let the balance take over. Score: 92. —Steve Heimoff, December 15, 2005.Wine Advocate A relatively new operation, this 800-case winery on Spring Mountain dedicated to 100% Cabernet Sauvignon produced an outstanding 2002. Deep ruby purple in color with a sweet nose of black currants, licorice, earth, and some barrique smells, the wine shows impressive concentration as well as purity, moderately high tannin, and a structured style that suggests 1-3 years of bottle-age will be essential after its release. It should age nicely for 10-15 years. This is an impressive start! Score: 90. —Robert Parker, February 2005.Customers who purchased this item also bought:
